Søle: The Norwegian Mud that Grounds Our Nordic Wellness Journey

Søle

/ sø lə / noun

Norwegian for mud

Shaded by large aspen trees from the strong prairie sun, my sisters and I would walk barefoot alongside the creek on our farm. We'd delight in the cool clay squishing between our toes as we searched for 'ingredients' for our mud pies. Our creations were magnificent concoctions, complete with pinecones, seeds, and grass. However, our fun came at a cost - we were almost always covered in mud from head to toe. Knowing Mom wouldn't appreciate our muddy state, we'd rinse off in the cool creek water as best we could before heading home for dinner.

It is these reflections that came to mind in deciding on a name for our spa. I though about the søle, the mud and clay, from which everything grows and to which we have so much to be thankful for. I contemplated the nourishing benefits to our skin and our bodies from something so simple. It is with this in mind that Søle Nordic Wellness received its name. It is the core of the business, this most basic elements that brings life and wellness to each of us.

In keeping with this most precious basic substance, I would love to share these benefits with you. Clay so beautifully and gently cleanses your skin, decongests your pores, and safely exfoliates for a healthy and balanced radiance. How does it work?

Clay’s very fine grain gently exfoliates and removes surface build-up, revealing an even-looking skin tone with consistent use. Clay’s minerals have an energizing effect on the skin, promoting a healthy-looking glow.

Clay is porous and absorbs excess oil, impurities and dead skin. As clay dries, dark spots begin forming on the mask, a sign that the clay is absorbing the excess oil and debris from your pores. What a great way to unclog your pores instantly!

Speaking of which, the clay decongests clogged pores without the side-effects of traditional acne products. It is so cleansing, it even reduces the size and frequency of breakouts.

Clay also has a negative ionic charge when hydrated, which allows it to bind to free radicals which are positively charged ions. Free radicals are known to accelerate the visible signs of aging.

Modern skincare products can disrupt and dissolve the skin’s protective layer. Clay is a fantastic alternative to acid exfoliants and harsh cleansers as it does not disrupt the skin barrier and its delicate microbiome.

Clay properties even remove toxins and binds harmful bacteria, thus working as a natural antibiotic that can heal skin infections such as eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis without removing the good bacteria that promotes healthy skin immunity.

Our Nordic mud facials and wraps at Søle Nordic Wellness are made of pure Canadian clay from BioOrigin, sourced specifically for your skin’s specific needs. We offer their 100% natural red clay for regeneration, dark clay for detox, and gray clay for nourishment.

Come in and experience the benefits of our Nordic Facials and Mud Wraps with us!
